I have decide to share a little pointer for beginners in powerlifting or fitness in general. Many young people feel that they need all the bells and whistles in order to train and get bigger than their friends and neighbours. The answer is yes if you can do it right however most people do not have the money to pre-test for what they are genetically deficient in in order to maximize their training.

please people eating in sport is not like anything else in the world in terms of getting what you need to train. eating is not fun or entertaining - its pure hell for those who are used to mound of Italian pasta and fat galore! Your needs are simple and should your diet should have what it takes to repair injured tissue while keeping you energetic and transforming you into a stronger healthier creature. I believe that Dr. Mario Di Pasquale is on the right track with his metabolic diet (http://www.metabolicdiet.com). however I also feel that beginners are not smart when it comes to reading and most importantly interpreting information to put it to good use.

Lets think of it simply - you have vegetables and fruit and they are called carbohydrates and you have meat of all kinds called protein (simple enough for you?). Next we have all the confusing fats. Lets say that you cannot be bothered to count all the calories or food types that you eat. start by doing what you do best - EAT! Now do you want to understand what the hell is happening to your body? If yes then sit up and pay attention to the next few simple steps. If you can add up the weights that you lifted in your last workout then you can add up the food types and calories from your last meal. Once you have a daily total book a doctors appointment to have a urine and blood analysis to determine what you are high/low in. this will give you a basis to start finding out what your body really needs to grow and get stronger. I am amazes that none of the steroid guru's or food guru's advise people to do this and determine what their bodies are lacking. Every athlete should have a urinalysis kit and a glucometer when they train. If you cannot find them email me and I will get them for you. These tools read what we are displacing from our body and what we are adsorbing. we can take this simple step and obtain an understanding of our bodies that most people do not learn until they get diabetes - the fastest growing disease in North America.

now that we are started testing the question remains - when and where? test first in the a.m. upon waking then 1 hour before training and 1 hour after training for the first week to get a handle on blood and urine levels. prick yourself for blood in a different spot each time. Urinate on the strip in the bathroom - don't worry about getting a container - pee on the strip and wait a minute then read. Most importantly keep a log! You need to have good records. Start maximizing your food intake today and be sure to test for the results!
