Mangan Review of Powerlifting 1999-2002 What does Powerlifting have to
do to better itself? Constitutions
 | In order for Powerlifting to survive we need to review and revive
existing Constitutions. |
 | Just because we invented Powerlifting that doesn't mean we have to
stick with the original rules forever. |
 | Technique and equipments changes so safety factors must also change! |
In Fighting
 | friction occurs in all organizations however what keeps people
together is the ability to come to a consensus through voting. |
 | It is healthy for breakaway groups to form and try to survive on
their own but they must not forget where they came from. This is
respecting the past without agreeing with it. |
The Sky's the Limit
 | As we watched Inzer fight the I.P.F the reconcile we learn that
the B.S. of certain American organizations will not survive as the
world will not tolerate their global negative monopolization
behaviors. This is to say that Inzer bent to the world I.P.F to allow
global strength markets to be tapped into. This succumbs to Inzers
need to make money in the U.S.A. since his patents have run out now he
can hold more ground in his home turf. I tip my hat to the man as he
struggles to survive. Inzer has helped the sport of powerlifting
tremendously. We must aspire to be men like him and all others whose
equipment we have purchased and/or used to gain in our feats of
strength. |
 | The sky is the limit means we can change, fail and regroup to
succeed where others fail and stop trying. |
Equipment Changes
 | We must not make equipment so tight that we neglect the fact
that judging and technique are important. One federation will have
to dominate our sport to allow the general public a simple
understanding of what we do and allow better promotion of the sport
we love. |
 | Use of equipment means everything involved in powerlifting. |
- Monolift - great idea! Saves stress on your back, knees,
ankles and spine!
- Bars - should be thicker to allow more muscle recruitment.
Bars should all weight 50 lbs (22.72 kgs) for ease of loading
calculations.
- Plates - Calibrated within 100 grams. Kilograms make sense
however no more 45 kg plates.
- Collars - 2.5 kg spin locking collars are still the best.
- Cleaning solution - ammonia/alcohol/chlorine solution must be
in contact for 3 minutes to be effective. The bar should be
cleaned after every use. Bad blood can kill or contaminate.
- Wire brush - must be thoroughly used to be effective.
- Rubber ribbed mat with cleaning solution. - Prewash your feet
before lifts to improve traction.
- Mops/buckets - to keep loading area and platform clean
- Fans - In warm-up area and on platform to help prevent heat
fatigue.
